The Future of Article MS

After playing around for some time with AMS, I think it has very good potential. I like some of the features it has and I think others could be improved. A well written manual could definitely help. I wonder what is AMS going? Is this just a garage project or is it organized such as Joomla, wordpress or some other CMS out there?
