Version 2.3 Add a sidebar to right

Hi guys

I have been messing about with my site and have come to the conclusion that adding a new sidebar to the right is not so easy. I am not a programmer but I am hoping there is another site owner that has done it.
If so can you share info here please....I'm sure I am not the only one that would like to do it!
I have also searched for free templates and have found a few that upload OK but will not instal to my version. Always says this template is for an earlier version.

I hope you can add the bar. I have been sitting at the bar waiting for an answer to my questions. They are chasing bigger chickens somewhere....
