Upgrade Instructions
If you upgrading from a previous version of ArticleMS please read instructions carefully.
Before you start:
Make a backup of your current site, including a backup of the templates.
The upgrade will preserve all of your current articles, members and comments, but some of the template modifactions will be lost.
Step 1: Upgrade ArticleMS
1: Login to your admin panel, and unselect the 'site enabled' option under settings.
2: Upload all the files from the new version (except the settings.php file), replacing all of your current files.
3: Visit yoursite.com/install/upgrade.php in a browser. (if your site is www.example.com you should open www.example.com/install/upgrade.php )
4: Select your current version of ArticleMS (most likely 1.3) and hit upgrade. Be sure to only hit the upgrade button once. If you have a large number of articles it can take up to 30 minutes for the upgrade to finish.
Step 2: Upgrade your templates
Your site has now been upgraded, but it will not work until you also upgrade the template. To do so log into your admin control panel, and under templates select the 'Manage Skins' link. Then follow the update link next to your template.
Final Steps:
Setup permissions to writable for the following directories:
/uploads/ (chmod 777)
/uploads/images/ (chmod 777)
/uploads/files/ (chmod 777)
/_cache/ (chmod 777) (if you want to enable caching)
/plugins/export/ (chmod 777) (if you plan to develop plugins)
